President Kaboré takes stock of his five-year term

In Burkina Faso, Roch Marc Christian Kaboré took status over five years spent at the helm of the country: fight against terrorism, Covid-19 and its consequences, G5 Sahel, social conflicts, etc. On October 15 at RFI he announced that he had not the outstretched hand of former President Blaise Compaorés. Several opposition politicians had qualified this exit as an election promise aimed at attracting supporters of the exiles, especially Blaise Compaoré. The head of state denied these allegations.

as reported from Ouagadouou, Yaya Boudani

On national reconciliation, Roch Marc Christian Kaboré clarified his remarks held at RFI and France 24 after criticism from several opposition politicians who qualified his remarks as election propaganda. “We have never banned anyone from returning to Burkina Faso,” he repeated three times in front of reporters. But all those who have lawsuits will be tried on their return, he continues.

For President Kaboré, the procedures for the reconciliation process will be decided at a national meeting in the first half of 2021 if he is re-elected. And this meeting will bring together all the components of the Burkinabè community.

Concern for expatriates in Côte d’Ivoire

Another important issue is the situation in Burkinabè in Côte d’Ivoire a few days before the presidential election. “We are concerned because we are already receiving reports of abuse against our countrymen during this period,” he stressed.

Burkinabé’s head of state therefore calls on the entire Ivorian political class for satisfaction: “These elections must be held in a peaceful manner. If we are to have a major crisis, it will not be good for Côte d’Ivoire or Burkina Faso, ”said Roch Marc Christian Kaboré.
