Nigerian-born lawyer Wally Adeyemo has been appointed Deputy Minister of Finance

Wally Adeyemo, 39, was born in Nigeria and raised in the United States. He was appointed on Monday by President-elect Joe Biden. He is the first African-American Deputy Secretary of the Treasury.

Wally Adeyemo was born in Nigeria and grew up in Los Angeles, California. Academically, this kid had a flawless career: he graduated in art from Berkeley University and Yale Law School.

Wally, as he is known, enjoyed a quiet but meteoric rise during the administration of Barack Obama, which has largely demonstrated its expertise in macroeconomic policy. In fact, in 2015, Barack Obama appointed him National Economic Adviser.

Wally Adeyemo had since joined several strategic functions: Deputy Chief of the National Economic Council, National Security Adviser and Chief of Staff of the Office of Consumer Financial Protection.

After Barack Obama left the White House, Wally Adeyemo was recruited by a private organization to provide advice on macroeconomic and geopolitical policies to businessmen and NGOs. Finally, on August 1, 2019, he was appointed head of the Barack Obama Foundation.

In announcing his appointment as assistant finance minister on Monday, Wally showed an ambition: to rebuild the US economy.
