Martin Ziguélé and Karim Meckassoua, both presidential candidates in December, in the Central African Republic, are in turn banned from leaving the territory by the authorities. They wanted to go to Niger for the inauguration of the new president, Mohamed Bazoum.

Authorities on Wednesday, March 24, demanded that opponent Anicet Georges Dologuélé submit a permit from the Ministry of Security before leaving the country, citing “new measures”. That is why Martin Ziguélé and Karim Meckassoua wrote to this ministry. Without his answer, the latter returns the ball to the judicial authorities by invoking the “separation of powers”. A blur “incomprehensible” for Martin Ziguélé who condemns a “return of the arbitrary” and a “denial of rights”.

I want to know what provisions of the law say I can not go out. If I, through an extraordinary legal proceeding concerning me, were to be informed and even if there is a legal proceeding, it is the person responsible for the trial who is competent, by law, to decide to deprive me of my liberties. It is a return to arbitrariness and authoritarianism.
