After a day of closure, the independent national election commission decided to resume the publication of the results jointly by the municipality. A decision was made in the absence of the five opposition commissioners who suspended their participation in the work. In question: how the compilation takes place at the municipal centers.

In a statement to the press, Newton Ahmed Barry, the president of Ceni, declared himself. On Monday, the Commission noted that certain municipal compilation centers, CCCR, had not made the manual compilation, by law, limited to a so-called electronic compilation, via software. CENI therefore asked them to do so as quickly as possible and thus be able to report the results of these manual compilations to the national level.
“This is how we began unanimously to announce the municipalities’ first results.” According to Newton Ahmed Barry, the five opposition commissioners then requested that this announcement be suspended until these manual compilations reach Ceni. What the latter finally did on Monday afternoon.
But for Newton Ahmed Barry, 24 hours later, on Tuesday afternoon, it was necessary to move on: “When I speak to you, our five comrades have still not returned. It turns out that we are also bound by the deadlines and that is why the ten Commissioners present have decided to resume testing, validate and publish the results. ”
The Election Commission has seven days to announce preliminary results. They must then be validated by the Constitutional Council.
