the end of the Succession War in the Zulu Empire
It is the end of a year of excitement for the Zulu people. After the death of King Goodwill Zwelithin in March 2021, the coronation of Prince Misuzulu is approaching. Part of the family questioned in court his accession to the throne that the queen had announced. Procedures are now exhausted and South African President Cyril Ramaphosa has just given his blessing.

Prince Misuzulu, 47, will be able to rule over 11 million zulus. Recognition of President Ramaphosa comes two weeks after a court victory. The court in Pietermaritzburg had rejected requests from part of the family who wanted to cancel the coronation.
Cyril Ramaphosa did not take this decision lightly. He consulted his Minister for Traditional Affairs and the Prime Minister of the Province of KwaZulu-Natal. Because if the Zulu king has no executive power, he has political influence in South Africa’s second largest province.
Prince Misuzuluwas is supported by the Zulu Inkhata Party (IFP), which recalls that “the monarchy unites the Zulu nation, provides stability and protects the kingdom’s heritage”. The inheritance is mainly land, 30% of the province is managed by a royal company that collects a tax. This will be one of the responsibilities of the future sovereign after his coronation, the date of which has not yet been determined.
