in the El Hashaba camp, three doctors for 15,000 Ethiopian refugees
On the run from a fratricidal war that has been going on since the beginning of November, more and more Ethiopians are taking refuge in neighboring Sudan. In less than a week, 25,000 refugees arrived in Sudan (SUNA bureau). They are currently stacking a few kilometers from the border, in the village of El Hashaga. The vast majority are Tigrayans. Some did not cross the border unscathed.

Sitting on a straw mattress, a doctor Miniam, a 45-year-old Tigrayan, is examined. A bandage covers his forehead. His eye is swollen and he has several bruises. “I arrived in Mai-Kadra two days after the massacre,” he explains. Young people were still colliding. I fought with stones and fought with a stick. “
We are taken a little further to a temporary clinic. Hailé, 18, has a blood-colored t-shirt, worn in places. His left hand is full of shrapnel, he has dropped two fingers on his right hand. “I was with my crew in a field. Everyone fled the fighting. Amharas threw a grenade in my direction. I fled. Then I went out. ”
Doctor Darielo cleans the pieces of torn fingers and applies a new bandage. “After the fighting between the militias and the soldiers, criminals or unemployed young people became divided on ethnic issues. They started killing each other. That’s really stupid. ”
Dr. Darielo is one of only three doctors in this camp with 15,000 people. He is not at the end of his problems. The war continues in his country, he knows that the refugees will continue to flow.

Since November 4, the federal army has stormed the Tigray region to kill the forces of the Tigray people’s liberation front. Accused by the Tigrayans of intervening in the conflict, Eritrea was hit by several rockets on Saturday. The TPLF claimed responsibility for the attack. The conflict is regionalized.
