The Nyiragongo eruption and the earthquakes that followed it are at the heart of all conversations in the Democratic Republic of Congo: on the radio, in the newspapers or on the streets, we hear the words “volcano”, “lava” all day, “eruption” or “earthquake” on the four national languages (Lingala, Kikongo, Swahili and Tshiluba), but each one expresses them differently.
