Central African Republic: development of the larval sector

Makongo is the generic name for Sango, the language most commonly spoken in the Central African Republic, to denote larvae. They are available in all colors and sizes. Eaten fresh, fried, in sauce or dried, they represent a very profitable sector, from pickers to preparers, including retailers who make the daily round trip between the capital and the Lobaye forest area in the east of the country.

But in the absence of conservation and appropriate conversion, this annuity exists only once a year, only for 3 months. Report on the caterpillar route, from the deep forests of Lobaye to consumers’ plates.
