In Goma, more and more business people are being targeted by armed gangs, and these crimes are often committed during the day. Yesterday, businessman Simba Ngezayo was shot dead. His killers have not yet been found and an investigation has been opened.

The drama arose at. 7.20. The businessman accompanied with his child to school when he was shot by two unidentified gunmen. According to police and witnesses, the latter fired several shots before fleeing on a motorcycle.

Simba Ngezayo is a well known businessman in Goma. His family is among the richest in the city. Her father, Victor, runs one of the largest hotels in the region. The name of Ngezayo has been very much in the press for several months after a land dispute related to the hotel complex that Ngezayo manages. Three years earlier, it was Simba Ngezayo’s uncle who had been shot dead in the middle of the day under similar circumstances.

Armed attacks on businessmen and traders are becoming frequent in Goma.

Local civil society notes that these targeted killings are often linked to land conflicts and the mismanagement of disarmament and reintegration process by former fighters who are members of armed groups, some of whom are recruited by criminal networks in Goma.

On the other hand news we getting  Goma,  According to Congolese police, three people were arrested Tuesday at 10 p.m. in Ndosho and Mapendo, two neighborhoods in the capital of North Kivu.

The Rwandan assassin has been identified only as Mutabazi who allegedly shot Ngezayo.   Two other people including a biker and two weapons were also recovered during the operation.

Simba Ngezayo was killed around 7.20 am while dropping his son off at school.

These assassins were armed with two AK 47-type weapons. The DRC Armed Forces say the assassins were preparing to flee to Rwanda when the intelligence services apprehended them.

“The gentleman you see there with blood is the one who fired the fatal shot, he confessed, ”said Major Guillaume Ndjike, spokesperson for the army in the provinces.

For the moment, the authorities have not confirmed the holding of their trial but still affirm the continuation of the investigations.
