Northeastern State’s Vice President Backs Jubbaland’s Request for Northeastern State to Join NCC Discussions

Garowe (AX) – In a supportive gesture, Northeastern State’s Vice President Ilyas Lugatoor backed Jubbaland President Ahmed Mohamed Islam Madobe’s call for including Northeastern State in the ongoing National Consultative Council (NCC) gatherings happening in bustling Mogadishu.

President Madobe has been vocal against the federal government’s ambition to roll out a one-person, one-vote (1PV) electoral system. He raised concerns about the slippery slope of missed election deadlines and stressed that the absence of Northeastern State and Khatumo in these pow-wows was a glaring oversight.

On Sunday, while chatting with the press, Lugatoor tipped his hat to Madobe for standing his ground during these NCC meetings, particularly commending his insistence on not moving forward sans Northeastern State.

“I tip my hat to Jubbaland’s President, Ahmed Madobe, for showing true grit at the Mogadishu gatherings. His firm stance against sidelining Northeastern State and Khatumo did not go unnoticed,” commented Vice President Lugatoor.

Madobe’s relentless push for the fair inclusion of regional voices like Northeastern State and Khatumo appears to be moving the needle in these discussions, which have entered their fourth day of brains, banter, and negotiations.
