Bayern transfer news: Lewandowski wants a new challenge
Bayern Munich striker Robert Lewandowski is keen to seek a new challenge and wants to join another “top” European club in the next few years.
The productive Poland has scored 297 goals in just 331 games for Bayern since joining as a free agent from Borussia Dortmund in 2014 and rising his numbers to another level in the last two years – he has scored 103 goals in just 87 games since the start of 2019/20 alone.
But with this now his eighth season in Munich, Lewandowski is considering his next move and what he still wants to achieve before demanding time on his career.
Sky Sports reports that although he is not dissatisfied with Bayern, Lewandowski has the ambition to join another of Europe’s elite sides before the age of 35. 100m.
That valuation is likely to price the player, who turns 33 in the coming days, from a transfer this summer or before the end of his contract in the summer of 2023.
Bayern are not believed to have offered a new contract that would seek to extend their stay or maintain a transfer value beyond that time, although it may be considered more difficult for Lewandowski to control the big move he wants, as he is then almost 35.
It is said to be a source of frustration for Lewandowski that Bayern are not willing to sell him for a realistic price, although it is not expected to significantly affect his relationship with the club.
Lewandowski has picked up where he left off during the 2020/21 season and reached Bayern’s equalizer against Gladbach on the opening day of the Bundesliga season before scoring a match in the 3-1 victory against Dortmund in the German Super Cup.
