BarÇa Femeni signs Fridolina Rolfo

Barcelona have made another big international signing in several days in a row, with the Swedish striker Fridolina Rolfo joining Ingrid Engen to switch from German giants Wolfsburg.

Engen’s arrival has strengthened a midfield in Barça that was weakened by the departure of women’s Champions League captain Vicky Losada to Manchester City, as well as Kheira Hamraoui, while Rolfo will strengthen an attacking unit that is already full of world-class talent.

Rolfo, who won an Olympic silver medal with Sweden in 2016 and helped his country end up in third place at the 2019 World Cup, has signed a two-year contract with Barça until 2023.

The 27-year-old previously played for Swedish clubs Jitex and Linkoping at home before moving abroad to Germany in 2017 to join Bayern Munich. She moved to Wolfsburg two years later in 2019, which helped the club replace the current Barça star Caroline Graham Hansen.

Like Engen, Rolfo played in the 2020 Champions League final for Wolfsburg.

“Physically, I am ready to help the team. I am a fast player, good in one-on-one and I hope to be able to offer a lot going forward,” she told Barça TV.

“I look forward to enjoying the League, but also the Champions League. That is a big challenge. I am very happy to join the team and hope you like watching me and the team on the pitch. ”

Rolfo will join his new club mates for the 2021/22 season after representing Sweden at this summer’s Olympics in Japan. She is part of a strong Swedish squad that will pose a serious medal threat at the competition and looks to be better than 2016.
