Two of the Copa America’s top contestants face a semifinal spot on Friday at the Olympic Stadium Nilton Santos in Rio de Janeiro.

Brazil finished the knockout round at the top of Group B after winning all three matches and retained their 10-game stretch without a loss. Ecuador has been the only team to capture the host nation in a 1: 1 draw, highlighting Brazil’s weaknesses over other competitors.

Chile, on the other hand, struggled at the start of the tournament with extremely overwhelming performances, before advancing to the knockout round in fourth place in Group A. Chile have only managed to win one game during the 2021 edition of this tournament, Bolivia barely defeating 1-0 with goals from Ben Brereton.

Brazil enters the match against Chile without reported injuries.

Instead, prominent players entered the match well rested after manager Tite chose to put key starters sideways during their last group game against Ecuador. A full force of 11 can be expected from the host nation, with Fred and Casemiro in place for Fabinho and Douglas Luiz in midfield. Neymar, Gabriel Jesus and Richarlison are expected to start at the top.

The team started the tournament with tremendous energy which has since diminished as each match progresses. Their performance against Ecuador was not on a par with their previous talent, despite dormant big players.

Chile continue their Copa America campaign in 2021 without Alexis Sanchez, after one of the country’s best players suffered an injury just before the tournament.

Instead, Eduardo Vargas will lead Chile in their efforts at the top, with the support of Arturo Vidal, Erick Pulgar and Jean Meneses. Guillermo Maripan may be out of Chile again after missing the match against Paraguay due to a thigh injury.

Brazil: Alisson; Emerson, Militao, Marquinhos, Sandro; Richarlison, Fabinho, Casemiro, Everton; Neymar, Jesus

Chile: Bravo; Isla, Medel, Sierralta, Mena; Vidal, Aranguiz, Alarcon; Pinares, Vargas, Brereton

Brazil and Chile have an intense history after colliding 72 times before.

Selecao dominates with 51 wins and leaves 13 wins for Chile and eight draws in total. In the last ten meetings, Brazil has won eight times over Chile – the leading audience expected another great victory for the host nation on Friday.

Given their record and 2021 Copa America appearances so far, Brazil is expected to dominate from the start.

The host failed to win just one of its three matches in the group stage after Tite decided to rest novices and signaled that a full force Brazil will take the field on Friday. Chile may be without two of their regular players during the match, which lowers the odds for underdogs.

Prediction: Brazil 3-0 Chile
