Uruguay face Paraguay on Monday at the Olimpico Nilton Santos in Rio de Janeiro for the final round of the group stage of the Copa America. Both sides have already qualified for the knockout stage, but will fight to steal the Group A top spot from Argentina.
Paraguay currently have six points from their previous three matches and are in second place. If they defeat Uruguay and Argentina lose to Bolivia, Paraguay can go into the next round as the unexpected champions of their group. The nation has shocked fans with its performances, especially compared to favorites like Uruguay and Chile.
La Celeste has so far disappointed the fans and is in fourth place with four points from the three previous matches. Uruguay have only won one match during their Copa America campaign in 2021, which leads the audience to believe that Paraguay, despite their list, will enter Monday’s match as favorites.

Uruguay are not facing any new injury concerns heading into Monday’s match against Paraguay, although changes in start XI are expected after recent performances.
Given that Uruguay have officially qualified for the next round, head coach Oscar Tabarez may be able to rest Edinson Cavani or veteran defender Diego Godin. However, Luis Suarez is expected to play, hoping to increase the number after a disappointing group game. Joining Suarez at the top could be Nicolas De La Cruz, who attracted Tabarez’s attention last season when he was at River Plate.

Paraguay enter the match against Uruguay without any new reported injuries, but are also expected to make changes in start 11. It is expected that Angel Romero and Alejandro Romero will play on the pitch together with Fabian Balbuena. Given his performance against Chile, Miguel Almiron is also expected on the pitch, with a potential change of second half to get into the knockout phase well rested.
Those on the bench may have a moment as Paraguay have also qualified for the next round of the Copa America 2021, giving head coach Eduardo Berizzo some creative freedom on Monday.
