Harry Kane passes fitness test before the Carabao Cup final
Tottenham Hotspur striker Harry Kane is expected to be in good time to take part in Sunday’s Carabao Cup final against Manchester City.

Kane limped late in the last 2-2 draw with Everton after picking up an ankle injury – perhaps the scariest sight for all Spurs fans – and he was unavailable for Ryan Mason’s first responsible match, the 2-1 win over Southampton.

The English striker returned to training shortly after that game, and according to The Telegraph, he has done enough to convince Spurs that he can play a role in the cup final.
Mason will do a late check on Kane’s condition before the match to determine if the 27-year-old is healthy enough to start or if he needs to get off the bench.
The situation brings back memories of the Champions League final in 2019, where Spurs fell 2-0 to Liverpool. Kane missed the six weeks before the match with an ankle injury but forced himself back for such a big game, just to look ineffective and lack match condition.

Fortunately, after missing just nine days with this latest concern, there is optimism that Kane’s performance levels will not have dropped.
Should Kane start on the bench, Mason has a number of alternatives at his disposal. Brazilian Carlos Vinicius is the only excluded striker in the squad apart from Kane, but the interim manager chose to join Lucas Moura for the Southampton victory.
Sunday’s final gives Kane the chance to win the first trophy of his Spurs career. The club’s lack of cutlery has long been dropped as something that could force Kane out of the club, but midfielder Toby Alderweireld insisted that Spurs proved they were winners just by reaching the final.

“I understand what you’re saying about Harry but it’s everyone at the club,” he said. “We did not get cutlery but the steps this club has taken over the last five, six, seven years are great, do not underestimate it even if you get used to it quite quickly.
“So of course we are not happy without cutlery but you can not say that we were not good or say that Spurs have no winners. You have to win to get to the final. You have to win to get into the top four. Of course it is not cutlery but maybe now we are in a moment to make everyone shut up and get it. ”
