The deputies targeting this request for waiver of parliamentary immunity are Abdul Karim Meckassaoua, Anicet Georges Dologuélé and Martin Ziguélé, all three presidential candidates in December, and the elected opposition Simplice Aurélien Zingas. And this in connection with legal proceedings against former President Bozizé according to a letter from the Ministry of Justice.

In this letter to the President of the National Assembly, the Deputy Minister of Justice Arnaud Djoubaye Abazene calls for the waiver of parliamentary immunity for these four deputies in order to “allow their hearings” in the context of legal action against “ex-President François Bozizé”, now coordinator of The CPC insurgency, and his former minister Thierry Savonarole Maleyombo, head of the KNK, have been arrested since early January.

The minister said he acted at the request of the investigating judge because “assumptions of guilt” weighed against these 4 elected officials without further specifying the allegations. We know, however, that the proceedings initiated in January against François Bozizé as well as “his co-authors and accomplices” are linked to the coup d’etat that the authorities accuse him of, and relate to the allegations of state internal security, criminal association, insurrection, murder, aggravated theft and conspiracy ”.

At the end of March, Anicet Georges Dologuélé, Martin Ziguélé and Karim Meckassoua prohibited from leaving the territory, by the authorities. Last week, Dologuélé’s two passports were also seized at the airport when the opponent tried to travel to France for the second time for treatment.
