board members condemn the appointment of governors

Four unions of community workers and the territorial administration held a general assembly this Saturday, November 28, in Bamako.

They had already been on indefinite strike for over a month and a half. During the meeting, they decided to continue this strike to demand improvement of their living and working conditions. Union judges also condemned the recent massive appointments of soldiers at the head of administrative regions.

For the platform of the four unions for workers in the territorial administrative societies, although the law provides that under current conditions soldiers are appointed to the posts of governors, the recent massive appointment of men in uniform at the head of the regions poses problems.

“We can not understand that the exception will be the rule,” criticizes Ousmane Christian Diarra, spokesman for the four unions. Of the twenty governors today, there are thirteen soldiers against only four civilian administrators. This is simply impermissible to the extent that everyone has their calling and they have not completed the securing of the territory. They have not yet recovered four thirds of the lost territory. We wonder what they are looking for in the offices. ”

To his question, he answers himself: “It simply hides the desire of the new authorities to make room for their friends. This is simply unacceptable, it is an insult to the situation in which the country finds itself. ”

Not at all satisfied, the union members have also during their general assembly demanded a continued strike of the current demands.
