General Mahamat, Deby’s son named Chad’s interim head of state
The Chadian army has confirmed that General Mahamat Kaka, the son of the late President Idriss Deby Itno, will replace him as head of a military council to replace the late president.
This follows the message from Army spokesman General Azem Bermandoa Agouna, who said Idriss Deby, 68, "has just breathed his last defender of the sovereign nation on the battlefield" over the weekend.
Mahamat previously served as deputy commander of the armed forces for the Chadian intervention in northern Mali (FATIM).
