Almost two months after taking the helm of the African Union, Félix Tshisekedi begins the activities of his action plan. This year, the theme chosen by the Pan-African organization is “Art, culture and heritage: levers to build the Africa we want”. In this context, a Pan-African literary prize was launched in the Congolese capital, a first of its kind.

Historian Isidore Ndaywel is among the experts who have worked on the issue. “It is still incredible that we do not have a price that can judge books according to our own criteria. That is, works that highlight our local culture and works that can promote the idea and desire for the African Renaissance, African unity, he said.
$ 30,000 donation
An international jury will be set up. The winner will be announced in November on the African Writer’s International Day. The prize, along with a donation of $ 30,000, will be awarded alongside the Summit of Heads of State. For its first edition, it supports only two languages: French and English.
At the same time, another prize was introduced and awarded, this time nationally. It is the Congolese grand prix du livre that is awarded to him in September.
