Jorginho responds to Ballon d’or’s speculation
Chelsea and Italian midfielder Jorginho have dropped the suggestion from international colleague Lorenzo Insigne that he could be a challenger to win the Ballon d’Or later this year.

Jorginho helped Chelsea win the Champions League last season and has been a key player for an Italian team that could still go all the way in Euro 2020 and played almost every minute so far.
Players who win several major trophies are often nominated for individual awards and it was Insigne after Italy’s victory over Austria in the 16-year-old who said, “[Jorginho] has spent some fantastic years at Chelsea and I am proud to have him on our team. It’s not me who decides if he deserves the Ballon d’Or, but I hope he will be on the list, he deserves it, he is a good player. ”
But Jorginho himself insists that individual awards do not think of him.

“I do not think about it,” the 29-year-old was quoted as saying by the Daily Mail.
“Everything that happens is a result of hard work. My priority is the group and celebrates with my teammates and friends. This is more beautiful than celebrating alone. ”
No Italian player has won the Ballon d’Or, or even ended up in the top three, since the prestigious golden trophy was awarded to midfielder Fabio Cannavaro in 2006.
The legendary midfielder won the Ballon d’Or at the back of the captain in Italy in honor of the 2006 World Cup, so it is obvious that the next winner of the iconic prize can come from which country continues to win Euro 2020.

But just winning trophies is not necessarily all that matters. Raphael Varane was famously the only player to win both the Champions League and the 2018 World Cup, but he finished only seventh in the playoffs, with the award to club mate Luka Modric instead.
