Earlier this week, he was convicted by the same court of refusing to testify before a commission of inquiry into corruption. and this despite a ban on justice.

In documents submitted by his lawyers to the country’s highest court, Jacob Zuma evokes a cruel and degrading verdict. “Before I go through the prison gates to serve my sentence,” he wrote, “I ask you to reconsider your decision. And to investigate whether you have acted within the framework of the constitution. ”

The former president presents himself as “the first prison in a constitutional court”. The age of 79 talks about his fragile health, threatened with possible imprisonment and asks the Constitutional Court to review his decision. Some lawyers are already wondering whether such an appeal can be taken up.

Lawyers for the former president have also submitted a request for an emergency to the High Court in Pietermaritzburg in KwaZulu Natal – his home region – and are asking that his imprisonment be suspended while his case is being investigated.

Theoretically, Jacob Zuma has until Sunday, July 4, to report to the police. The former president has been prosecuted for several years in several corruption cases and has always managed to escape the refugee by gaining time by taking legal action.
