According to one of the lawyers from the latest presidential candidate Mahamane Ousmane, a petition against the state of Niger was submitted to ECOWAS court last week.

Mahamane Ousmane, RDR Tchanji candidate in the last presidential election, claimed victory over Mohamed Bazoum. According to the final result of the Constitutional Court, the latter won with 55.66% of the votes against 44.34% for his opponent.

Mahamane Ousmane’s lawyer, Maître Abdourahamane Lirwana, explains that in his request, the former candidate criticizes several institutions for not playing their role correctly during the election process.

“We blame a number of human rights violations and discrimination. The Independent National Electoral Commission responsible for organizing the elections and the Constitutional Court, the state institution responsible for monitoring the regularity and transparency of elections, did not play its roles, did not monitor election materials and members of polling stations. The Constitutional Court did not approve the appeal of the candidate Mahamane Ousmane, who was the subject of a denial of justice. These are all the insults we have made against the state of Niger. And we are waiting for a conviction. ”
