England play either Sweden or Ukraine in the quarter-finals of Euro 2020 after securing a famous 2-0 victory against Germany at Wembley.

Raheem Sterling opened the scoring 15 minutes from time with Harry Kane taking a second before the end, but only after Thomas Muller had a fantastic chance to beg for Die Mannschaft.

The first half was captivating with both sides having good chances to score. Sterling stabbed Manuel Neuer in the palms early with a hard effort from the outside, while Harry Maguire let a promising main opportunity beg.

Timo Werner then got a save before the best opening of the game was wasted by Harry Kane. After the ball happily broke for him, the Tottenham man tried to round the goalkeeper but failed. Seconds later, the deadline was blown.

Shortly after the restart, Kai Havertz forced Jordan Pickford into a world-class save, with the Everton stopper stretching to keep out his hard drive.

After a lengthy score, England scored twice in quick succession to book their place in the last eight. First, Luke Shaw put one on a plate for Sterling to knock home. The strike was his third goal of the tournament so far.

Shortly afterwards, Muller broke through on goal and looked confident to score – just because the usually clinical freight forwarder hit his shot outside. Germany would be made to rue this missed chance even more six minutes from the moment when Kane – who had a quiet match overall – led home replacement Jack Grealish to secure the victory.

England will now face either Ukraine or Sweden in the quarterfinals. The game will be played on Saturday 3 July at the Stadio Olimpico in Rome. Win it and a semi-final at Wembley awaits.
