The 27-year-old, who scored 17 goals for Marcelo Bielsa last season, had entered the final year of his contract, but it was always expected that an extension would come sooner rather than later.

It may have taken a little longer than some fans had hoped, but now it’s finally come when Leeds went to their official website to confirm that Bamford is now linked to the Elland Road side until 2026.

Securing Bamford’s future is a huge boost for Leeds and manager Marcelo Bielsa, who was full of praise for the striker during a press conference earlier on Thursday.

“Patrick is a very important player for us,” he said (via Leeds Live). “He is one of the best strikers in English football.”

Bamford joins Stuart Dallas, Tyler Roberts and goalkeeper Illan Meslier to sign new contracts at the club, who have also managed to tie Bielsa to a new one-year contract after his previous contract expired at the end of last season.

Bamford was the last of Leeds’ urgent contract concerns, but those in charge at Elland Road are now likely to turn their attention to the situation of right-back Luke Ayling, whose deal has two years left to run.

There are also rumors of a new contract for English international Kalvin Phillips, who can expect a significant salary increase from the contract he signed in 2019.
