Bukayo Saka returns to Denmark

Bukayo Saka will probably return to start XI for England’s Euro 2020 semi-final against Denmark on Wednesday night.

The Arsenal striker was drawn in for the Three Lions’ last group match against the Czech Republic and impressed seriously. He retained his place for a 16-win victory over Germany but was ruled out of the quarter-finals with an injury.

Jadon Sancho was his replacement for the Ukraine game but according to Athletic, among several other stores, Gareth Southgate will restore Saka to the starting lineup on Wednesday night.

He is not expected to make any other changes in the starting XI that blew to a 4-0 victory last time, despite suggestions that he can return to a back three to match the system that Denmark has used so far.

That means England should start with Jordan Pickford in goal with hill four by Kyle Walker, John Stones, Harry Maguire and Luke Shaw. In front of them is a midfield three by Kalvin Phillips, Declan Rice and Mason Mount. From the front, Saka will be starring Harry Kane and Raheem Sterling.

Sterling has been England’s leading striker in the tournament so far and scored three goals. After a slow start in the group stage, Kane has looked good in the knockout stages and netted against Germany before taking over Ukraine.

Saka’s return to the team has a fantastic personal season. Although Arsenal struggled, he performed well during the 2020/21 season and came up big for his side on several occasions despite his sore years.

Saka is also popular in the England camp. Shaw recently admitted that he wished he was his brother and the widower also made waves on social media after diving into a pool at the back of an inflatable unicorn recently.
