During a press conference this Saturday, October 31, the National Electoral Authority assured that the establishment of the electoral process is progressing well. On this occasion, ANE gave an overview of the situation and took stock of the registration of voters.
More than 1.8 million Central Africans will vote, almost 100,000 less than in 2015. 46.5% of those registered are women. 17,000 duplicates were discovered and processed, details ANE. That voter registration process have been questioned by some. The main report returned to these disputes and confirmed that the national electoral authority has responded to about fifty appeals.
ANE recognizes that it faces major challenges in terms of security and logistics, especially in its activities. Covid-19 epidemic further complicated the task of the organization and increased some costs by three or even four.
Voters are therefore urged to vote on December 27 in 144 constituencies according to the decrees published on Tuesday. Candidates for president and lawmakers are invited to submit their complete cases between November 1st and 10th.
During its press conference, ANE also returned to a controversy regarding a computer server funded by France. The institution denied rumors, claiming that France would install a server that would allow it to have control over election data.
The technicians advised us to have another server installed outside the data center to have what they call a “backup”, so if there is ever a problem that destroys the data that we have there, we can collect them elsewhere.
