In a world rapidly transformed by technology, the role of parents and educators has never been more crucial. At the upcoming Kids Tech Fest 2025, we’re thrilled to offer dedicated sessions for parents and the broader educational community. Imagine a space where you can explore topics such as parenting in an AI-driven world, cyber safety, engaging learning resources, career guidance, and tailored IT curriculums for schools. How can we prepare our children to thrive amidst these disruptive changes?
This event is not just another conference; it marks a historical milestone as Africa’s first child-centered global AI conference. Here, children will not simply be passive consumers of technology but active creators. Gathered in the cities of Abuja, Kano, and Enugu throughout 2025, children and their families will have access to groundbreaking insights and opportunities. The next host city will be revealed at the Lagos conference. What potential lies within these young minds waiting to be unleashed?
The Big Vision: 100,000 Children in Year One
Yet it doesn’t end there. The ambitious initiative, Digital Equity Africa, is set to launch an AI Learning Community aimed at reaching 100,000 Nigerian children in its first year. This comprehensive approach to digital education emphasizes regional balance, ensuring that children everywhere have equal access to the AI movement in Nigeria. While the event is a momentous occasion, our vision stretches far beyond it, providing continuous mentorship, access to digital learning tools, and monthly challenges. Are we ready to embrace this transformative journey?
We will also unveil an exciting new children’s storybook titled Zina and the Thinking Machines. This delightful tale introduces young readers to the world of AI in an engaging manner. Follow Zina, a curious Nigerian girl, as she embarks on an adventure with her quirky inventor grandpa and a mysterious “thinking machine.” The story is not just entertaining; it’s educational, effectively demystifying AI concepts for children aged 6–12 through imaginative storytelling.
Through Zina’s journey, we aim to nurture digital curiosity and build confidence among young African readers. Importantly, the book celebrates African identity and innovation, illustrating vividly that technology isn’t only a realm for kids in Silicon Valley—it’s equally for African children. The distribution plan is ambitious, aiming to reach every child in the Global South who can read. How vital is it for our children to see themselves represented in the stories they read?
2025 Theme: “Generation AI: Shaping the Future, One Mind at a Time”
The theme for this year’s conference encapsulates a profound truth: early exposure to emerging technologies is essential for developing innovative and confident problem solvers. We are on a mission to empower the next generation of Africans to not only understand but also co-create their futures. How can we foster an environment that encourages such creativity?
“This is more than a conference; it is a national movement,” declared Justina Nnam Oha, the Convener of Kids Tech Fest. “We aim to set the stage for African children, enabling not just an understanding of emerging technologies but ownership over them. From Lagos to Kano, we are democratizing access to tech education for all.” The ripple effects of this initiative may reshape the landscape of technology in Africa. Can we envision a future where children from every corner of the continent lead in innovation?
