Somalia: A Call for Unity and Action

Have you ever paused to think about the vast wealth of resources within Somalia? It’s intriguing, isn’t it? Yet, despite this abundance, a heartbreaking number of our fellow Somalis are trapped in poverty. We find ourselves divided, splintering into regions and clans. Our flag, once a symbol of unity, now waves forlornly, as if forgotten. What have we truly lost sight of? What does it mean to live for Somalia, to embody the essence of being Somali?

“Unity is strength… when there is teamwork and collaboration, wonderful things can be achieved.” – Mattie Stepanek

The issue at hand transcends politics; it is a profound moral dilemma. We are ensnared in a web of silence, fear, and corruption. Our system, once promising, now leaves us uncertain and fragmented. Isn’t it time to say: Enough is enough?

We, the Somali people—both those at home and the diaspora—must find our voices and refuse to be silent any longer. For those living abroad in peace, a question arises: Is it truly fair to witness the homeland in distress and choose inactivity? One doesn’t need political clout or wealth to make an impact. All it requires is courage.

I recall a conversation with a friend in Nairobi. She said, “Ali, if only we had the nerve of our forefathers…” Those words linger, inviting reflection. Our ancestors built a legacy, and now stands the opportunity for us to craft a future worthy of our children’s pride. Are we prepared to answer the call?

Our Vision at the Global Somali Council

Here at the Global Somali Council, accolades and titles hold no allure for us. Our mission is clear: to call for integrity and leadership by Somalis, for Somalis. The healing of our nation begins with us.

Let’s take the necessary steps to restore what has been broken. Imagine a Somalia where unity prevails and opportunity thrives. This vision can be our reality, but it requires commitment. Stand with us. Speak out.

“The only thing necessary for the triumph of evil is for good men to do nothing.” – Edmund Burke

We can no longer afford to be passive observers. The journey towards reclaiming our country is laden with challenges but replete with potential. Together, through collective effort and unwavering resilience, we can pave the way for a prosperous Somalia.

Will you rise to the occasion? Will you let history remember this moment as the turning point where Somalis united for betterment and change?

Somalia deserves it. Let’s honor that.
