Top 10 least stressed countries in Africa in 2025

In the whirlwind of life’s demands, some corners of our globe stand out as oases of peace. While Africa sometimes wears the cloak of economic turbulence, there are beacons of tranquility and balance scattered across the continent. It’s fascinating, isn’t it? The Human spirit, continually seeking a place of calm, finds such locales despite the chaos that surrounds us.

The 2025 Global Emotions Report, a notable publication by CEOWORLD magazine, opens the door to our global stress landscape. With its comprehensive analysis of nations, this report takes us on a journey through the world’s most and least stressed regions.

Spanning across 197 countries and territories, the study gathered insights from December 2, 2024, to January 12, 2025. Participants answered a simple yet profound question: Did they feel “a lot of stress” the previous day? Over one-third of the respondents confirmed that indeed, they did. This statistic isn’t just a number; it’s an echo of the silent struggles many face daily.

Delving deeper, the study dissects stress into four primary categories: work, financial concerns, social and family life, and health and safety issues. It’s no surprise that Monaco, land of luxury and safety, topped the chart with the least stress, boasting a stress index of 83.83. Fascinatingly, other European countries like Liechtenstein, Luxembourg, Switzerland, and Ireland tail closely, painting a picture of European serenity.

Zooming in on Africa, the jewels of calm amidst the storm emerge. Seychelles, with its breathtaking beaches and the vast ocean as its backdrop, seems to cradle peace naturally. Ranked 57th globally with a stress index of 71.48, it stands as Africa’s epitome of tranquility. Picture serene days, where the economy is stable and people savor a lifestyle free from the usual hustle. Next, we find Mauritius at the 77th spot globally, scoring 65.27. A fellow islander that mirrors peace with its serene ambiance.

However, not all corners of Africa share this serenity. The report flags Burundi as the most stressed nation on the continent. A cocktail of economic turmoil and political unrest ranks it last globally. Meanwhile, other nations like South Sudan bear the weight of war’s devastation, alongside Syria and Afghanistan. These are places where daily existence hangs in precarious balance.
