The best of Twitter from England’s Euro 2020 semi-final win
England made history on Wednesday night when they reached their first ever European Championship final with a 2-1 overtime win over Denmark at Wembley Stadium.
Of course, on such an important occasion, everyone was desperate to share their thoughts at night, so let’s dig into some of the best actions from Twitter.
Tonight’s first big call came before the start – no, not the team choice, LITTLE CAR WAR BACK!

After a hectic opening, the game began to settle down and slowly but surely England’s nerves began to swirl.
One of the most impressive players for the Three Lions at the tournament so far had been Jordan Pickford, but the Everton man had England fans hiding behind his couch with some rash and poor distribution. Was the dreaded Pickford mistake about to come to light?
Pickford’s concentration, or lack of, the biggest concern for #Eng. # EURO2020

Hopefully, the Pickford error will beat his confidence. A safe Pickford is a dangerous Pickford.

I save the queen, but Pickford must save the ball. #ENGDEN # Euro2021

Well, it would be hard to call it a “mistake”, but he should have done much better when Mikkel Damsgaard hit a free kick beyond him – even though the effort looks quite central.
Well, not this again, it happens again does not it?
It’s a fantastic free kick by Mikkel Damsgaard! ?? #ENGDEN | #ITVFotboll | # Euro2020 pic.twitter.com/0mkPNI9v5m

Pickford should have saved that free kick, it would never have gone in, it was not in the corner and it just went over his hand. Bad goalkeeper.

Pickford could have done better for the goal. Fact. #Eng # EURO2020

Or maybe it’s not, because less than ten minutes later England were even thanks to Simon Kjær’s own goal – will it possibly come home !?

England started the second half about as they had started the first, but still have seen Kasper Schmeichel make a series of impressive saves, they were again denied by the Leicester striker when he somehow clawed Harry Maguire’s head away from goal.
It seems to try to get home but Kasper Schmeichel does not let it through the front door.

It would be great if Kasper Schmeichel could stop being so DAMN GOOD

Both sides pressed for a winner late with Southgate throwing Jack Grealish into the mix to try and remove the Danish defense, but nothing they tried could break down Kasper Hjulmand’s stubborn backline when the game went to extra time – something you can imagine that everyone was happy.

The start of the first extra time was all over England, but still the three lions could not find a way past Schmeichel to secure a winner, then Raheem Sterling drove past Joakim Maehle who brought the City man down to admit a penalty.
Harry Kane went up to take the penalty and despite Schmeichel keeping his spot kick out, the Englishman followed in to give his side a 2-1 lead. Is it coming home!?!?!

When Gazza could not stretch. When Southgate missed. When Beckham was deported. When the sailor was lobbied. When Rooney was injured. When Ronaldo blinked. When Lampard “scored”. When Pirlo panenka. When Iceland scored. When Kane did not square it.
It’s finally time for a new chapter.
