Iheanacho was named Premier League player for March

Leicester striker Kelechi Iheanacho has won Premier League player of the month for March.

The Nigerian has re-emerged as a striking alternative for the Foxes since the turn of the year, scoring eight goals in all competitions so far in 2021. He took it to another level last month, however, when he netted three consecutive Premier League matches for the first time in his career.

Strikes against Burnley and Brighton helped keep Leicester alive in their quest for a Champions League place before a fantastic hat-trick against Sheffield United cemented his status as Jamie Vardy’s partner in crime in the foreground.

His utilization earned him a nomination for Player of the Month, and he has won and averted competition from Harry Kane, Jesse Lingard and Riyad Mahrez.

Iheanacho has now scored 12 goals in 28 appearances for Leicester this season, with his most recent domestic rise following a rise in goals in the Europa League before Leicester went to Slavia Prague.

It is the best total of his career since his breakthrough campaign with Manchester City, when he scored 14 goals in 2015/16 and was tipped for greatness at the Etihad.

It has not really been possible to plan for him since, but now 24, he is starting to deliver his early promise at King Power Stadium.

He hopes to keep his impressive form alive as Leicester return from an international break as they face two key games in their quest to return to the top of European football. They face Man City at home on Saturday, April 3 before traveling to face West Ham a week later.
