Xavi argues that Barcelona has never received biased treatment from referees
Xavi Hernandez, the Barcelona boss, conducted a press conference before the upcoming match against Sevilla in La Liga. He addressed the issue of referees, stating that they have never felt favored by them, specifically referring to the Negreira case. This case involves allegations of Barcelona making payments for favorable decisions, which led to the police raiding Spain’s football refereeing headquarters. The raid was ordered by a judge who is investigating the case and is focused on payments made to Jose Maria Enriquez Negreira, the former top refereeing official. The search took place at the offices of the CTA referees’ technical committee, located at the RFEF football federation headquarters on the outskirts of Madrid. When asked about the recent reports during the pre-match press conference, Xavi responded that he has never felt that his team has been favored by the referees. He added that he doesn’t dedicate much time to reflecting on these issues as he has other priorities.
