What?? Chelsea’s Jaw-Droppingly Massive and Limited-Time Offer for Leao?!

As reported by “The Athletic,” there was a substantial and intriguing offer made by Chelsea to AC Milan last summer. The Premier League side was willing to part with Christian Pulisic and Hakim Ziyech in exchange for upcoming Portuguese star Rafael Leao, but their attempt was rebuffed by the Italian team.

But let’s talk about Leao himself – he’s quite the player. He’s making waves all across Europe, and Milan knows it. So, the club is on the verge of renewing his contract until 2028, with a release clause of a staggering 150 million euros. It’s not completely official yet, but the deal is as good as done. And if anyone wants to get their hands on this Portuguese jewel, they better be ready to pay up. And Chelsea, with Todd Boehly’s financial backing, certainly could.

The London club, in fact, tried to convince Milan to let Leao go elsewhere last summer, but they failed. The Athletic revealed that Chelsea was willing to offer Pulisic and Ziyech to sweeten the deal. It was thought that these two players were valued at a combined total of 100 million euros, which was the same amount Milan was asking to let Leao leave. Unfortunately for Chelsea, the trade was rejected, and Milan insisted on 150 million euros, which is now a whopping 175 million under the new contract.

Despite the setback, Chelsea did not give up and reached out to Milan during the winter to ask if Leao would be willing to renew his contract. Unhappy with the answer they got, Chelsea ended up splashing the cash to bring in Enzo Fernandez and Mudryk instead. It’s clear that Chelsea was serious about landing Leao, but Milan was not willing to let their prized asset go.
