The possibility of Barcelona signing Joshua Kimmich has arisen due to recent developments that depict the German player as unhappy at Bayern Munich. A report from ‘Mundo Deportivo’ suggests that Kimmich is drawn to the idea of joining Barcelona, however, it is a complicated matter. With his contract with Bayern set to expire in June 2025, negotiations with the club would be necessary for a potential transfer to take place. Additionally, the priority for FC Barcelona is the return of Leo Messi.
Despite the complications, the departure of Busquets at the end of the year opens up an opportunity for Barcelona to bring in someone new for their midfield. Kimmich could be this addition, being that he has friends in the ‘Cules’ dressing room.
However, Barcelona isn’t the only club looking at Kimmich, as other big European clubs, like Manchester City, also have their sights on him.
In the event that Kimmich forces his way out of Bayern, the Bavarian club has begun to look for a replacement, with Declan Rice being tipped by ‘Bild’. Although Rice is on the radar of several Premier League giants, he has yet to make the leap and has remained at West Ham.
