Tragic explosion claims lives of a mother and her children in Galgadud region

On Thursday September 7, 2023, a tragic incident occurred in Dhusamareb, Somalia. A mother and her two children lost their lives, while two other family members sustained injuries due to a devastating landmine explosion at their residence in the central part of the country.

The incident occurred on the outskirts of El-lahelay village, located in the Galgadud region. According to reports from state-owned media, it was revealed that the landmine had been concealed by Al-Shabab militants inside the affected family’s home.

In a swift response, security forces swiftly evacuated the bodies and wounded individuals to a nearby healthcare facility for urgent medical attention.

This tragic event comes just a day after government forces successfully regained control of several villages, including El-lahelay village in the Galgadud region. At present, no specific group has claimed responsibility for this devastating explosion.
