Tottenham and Conte Part Ways by Mutual Consent
Tottenham have announced that Antonio Conte has left the club “by mutual agreement” after 16 months in charge following an extraordinary post-match rant after a 3-3 draw with Southampton. His assistant, Cristian Stellini, will replace him until the end of the season. Conte leaves with Spurs in fourth place in the Premier League, but only two points above fifth-placed Newcastle. Tottenham chairman, Daniel Levy, has urged everyone to “pull together” for the remainder of the season, with the club having a fight on their hands for a Champions League place. Stellini previously stood in for Conte earlier in the season when he was recovering from gallbladder surgery. Conte’s contract was due to expire at the end of the season.
