According to reports by ‘Mundo Deportivo’, even if Marco Asensio were to leave the fortress of Madrid as a free agent, it appears that he could never have graced Camp Nou with his presence due to a clause in his contract which forbade him from ever joining Barcelona. Mind-boggling! It seems that Asensio was not the only player with such a clause though, as Dani Ceballos is rumoured to have had a similar caveat in his contract. This means that Asensio had to swiftly move past the possibility of ever playing for Barcelona, even when speculation was rife about his future move, and focus on his next chapter which seems to be with PSG. The deal could be made official next week, as he has reportedly already passed his medical with the French club. It seems that, even in 2014-15, Barcelona had missed out on the winger when they weren’t willing to pay the fee to acquire him from his then-club, Mallorca, leaving Madrid to snatch him up instead.
