Austin FC signs goalkeeper Brad Stuver to long-term extension

Austin FC has signed goalkeeper Brad Stuver to a new contract, keeping him at the club through the 2025 Major League Soccer season with an additional option for 2026.

Stuver joined the expansion side ahead of their 2021 MLS debut, arriving via free agency after previous stints with New York City FC and the Columbus Crew. The 31-year-old now stands as one of Major League Soccer’s most experienced goalkeepers, helping Austin reach the Western Conference Finals in the 2022 MLS Cup Playoffs.

“Brad is a great asset to this team and the community, and we are excited to have him with us for the next few years,” said sporting director Claudio Reyna.

Prior to coming to Austin, Stuver played nine league games during the 2013-2020 campaigns. He has improved drastically over the past two seasons, managing 13 clean sheets in 64 games and stopping three of 10 penalties against him. He finished eighth in the league for total saves in 2022, and second in the league for most successful shutouts with 33.

“From the moment I stepped foot in Austin, I felt right at home with the team, the community and the fans and I look forward to continuing my journey here,” Stuver said. “I’m excited to come back next year and continue to make history with my team and this city.
