SPL Director Confirms Potential Plans to Attract Salah in the Future within the Saudi League
Saudi Pro League director of football, Michael Emenalo, recently spoke to ‘Sky Sports’ about the possibility of Saudi clubs making another move for Liverpool star Mohamed Salah in the future. It was reported that Al-Ittihad had offered up to £150 million for the Egyptian player, trying to entice him with a lucrative salary comparable to what Cristiano Ronaldo and Neymar received in the Gulf state.
However, Salah signed a three-year contract extension with Liverpool just over a year ago, and his agent, Ramy Abbas, dismissed any speculation of a move, stating that they wouldn’t have renewed the contract if they were considering leaving this year.
Nevertheless, the Saudi league remains determined. In his interview, Emenalo acknowledged that they may attempt to convince Salah in the future, acknowledging his status as one of the best players in the world. He emphasized the importance of conducting the process professionally and respectfully, as the Saudi Pro League aims to bring professionalism, efficiency, and competency to the football industry.
Emenalo made it clear that if the opportunity arises and all the necessary factors align, they would be grateful to welcome Mo Salah to the Saudi Pro League. He clarified that a failed deal would not reflect a lack of interest or any issues with Liverpool, but rather a matter of certain conditions not falling into place. He expressed a willingness to keep the doors open and move forward regardless.
