“Someday, oh someday, shall we grant Messi a farewell befitting of his greatness?”
The future of Leo Messi is a source of much anticipation, with a mere month left until the end of the season in France, where he currently plays for Paris Saint-Germain. Despite an offer from Al Hilal, denied by his father Jorge, and Barcelona struggling to secure his signature, it seems clear that he will soon depart from the Parc des Princes. Pep Guardiola, former coach of Messi at Barcelona and now manager of Manchester City, is keen to see the Argentinian return to his roots and retire as a true ‘Cule’. “I hope that one day we can say goodbye to him as he deserves, because he is the best player of all time,” the Sky Blues boss stated passionately in an interview with ESPN. While discussing his own membership with the Barcelona team, he expressed his deep admiration for Messi’s impact on the team, citing their previous successes as proof that the football star was instrumental to their achievements. Guardiola never expected Messi’s seemingly premature departure from Barcelona, pointing out that Messi has played a pivotal role in making the club as big as it is today; and as such, he believes that Messi deserves to be given a proper send-off.
