Kenya: Farewell to Eastleigh Women Following Tragic Loss

NAIROBI, Kenya – In a scene heavy with grief, Lang’ata Cemetery in Nairobi saw the final farewell of three women who met a tragic fate after being kidnapped and later murdered. The burial took place on Friday with an urgent call from community leaders for swift justice and clarity regarding their abrupt passing.

The departed souls, Waris Daud, Nuseiba Dahir, and Amina Abdirashid, were interred amidst the presence of sorrowful relatives, close friends, Islamic thinkers, and distinguished dignitaries. Their violent ends had already ignited a wave of outcry within Eastleigh, a bustling business hub in the heart of Nairobi.

Among the notable figures paying respects were Sheikh Mohamud Shibli, a foremost religious authority; Yusuf Hassan, Member of Parliament for Kamukunji; and Jabril Ibrahim Abdulle, Somalia’s envoy to Kenya.

The unfortunate women were discovered in various parts of Nairobi, showing signs of horrific violence, including one victim whose hands had been severed. Authorities have prioritized finding justice for these brutal acts, and detectives are working diligently to crack this case.

Yusuf Hassan took the stage to implore for judicial fairness, emphasizing the necessity of expediting the current probe. Some alleged perpetrators are already apprehended, but he highlighted the need to capture every involved party.

“Several ringleaders have been caught, yet we must allow law enforcement the time to piece together all necessary evidence. I believe they are nearing a breakthrough,” Hassan remarked.

Hassan also urged increased law enforcement presence and bolstered security in Kamukunji, pointing to an upswing in criminal gang activity, as noted by Eastleigh Voice.

“We face gangs in Nairobi who rob, harm, and even slay. Action from the government is overdue, with the national security status being increasingly worrisome,” he continued.

Ambassador Jabril mourned the heartbreaking loss, expressing faith in Kenyan law enforcement’s dedication, lauding their relentless pursuit of justice.

“I offer thanks to Kenya’s government, chiefly the security forces, for their tireless efforts to pinpoint those behind these heinous acts,” conveyed the ambassador.

The investigation remains active, with the National Police Service promising to uncover those accountable and ensuring they face justice. Inspector General Douglas Kanja noted a decline in nationwide killings but committed to resolving unexplained deaths.
