Somali security sweep stumbles upon mind-boggling military weapons haul!
Fri May 26, 2023
In an unprecedented turn of events, the NISA has carried out a secret and successful sweep in the Hodan district of Mogadishu. As per insider sources, the NISA seized numerous military uniforms, explosives, and ammunition, which were found in a residential dwelling in the Tarabuun neighbourhood. Two individuals have been apprehended, marking a major breakthrough for the NISA’s wider security campaign that has escalated in recent weeks.
Despite the Ministry of Security being silent on the issue, the public has been buzzing with news of the seizure. This follows hot on the heels of a similar incident last week, where the State Minister of Defense announced NISA’s successful interception of two illegal consignments of military hardware and explosives destined for the al-Shabab militants, which were seized at Mogadishu’s port and airport.
It is worth noting that the Security Council had eased the arms embargo on Somalia for a year in a unanimous vote in 2013, even though the civil war and persistent factional conflict continued to run rampant. Nevertheless, Somalia appears to have gotten its house in order under President Farmaajo’s administration. It is clear that the NISA is playing a critical role in ensuring that Somalia is safe and secure in the face of mounting threats. Stay tuned for more updates on this developing story.
