In Dhusamareb, a city in the central region of Somalia, the government forces achieved a significant victory by eliminating five al-Shabaab militants during their military operations on Saturday.

The country’s Ministry of Defense, represented by Brigadier General Abdullahi Ali Anod, disclosed that the strategic operation occurred in the villages of Giriley and Ali-Yabal in the Galgadud region. The intelligence received indicated that the militants were converging in these areas.

Furthermore, General Anod highlighted the successful expulsion of al-Shabaab members from the Jir-jir Hirey forests, located between the Run-nirgod and Ali Helle regions in Middle Shabelle and Galgaduud. Importantly, he emphasized that the military maneuver was executed without inflicting any harm upon the government forces.

This remarkable operation followed closely after another triumph when the Somali National Army, supported by international forces, eliminated over 20 al-Shabaab militants in a joint operation. This particular mission was carried out in the Kurtunware district of southern Somalia.

In a concise statement released on Friday, the Ministry of Defense informed that the operation took place at 3 a.m. local time, targeting two houses where al-Shabaab militants were assembling militias and manufacturing explosives.
