Soldier in Mudug Region of Somalia Executed by Military Court for Murdering Colleague

Dhusamareb (AX) – In a significant development, a former military soldier was put to death by the Somali military court on Sunday. The execution was carried out due to the soldier’s involvement in the murder of his military colleague in the Harardhere district of the north-central Mudug region of Somalia.

The verdict of the circuit court revealed that Sharif Abshir Abdirahman Jama was found guilty of taking the life of Said Abdi Shabel in the Harardhere district on September 11, 2023. The execution took place within the Harardhere district.

The prosecutor emphasized, “This act serves as a stern reminder to our armed forces to recognize the true enemy and refrain from harming one another.”

The Armed Forces Court has a history of enforcing sentences against soldiers who engage in violence against civilians or their fellow soldiers within the country.
