Smith-Rowe aspires to “contribute” to Arsenal’s triumph.
Emil Smith-Rowe’s season at Arsenal hasn’t been his best. The young midfielder from England had surgery on a serious groin injury in September, and has only played for 63 minutes this year. However, he is “working as hard as he can” to return to being a key player for the Gunners.
Arsenal, currently at the top of the Premier League, is having its best season in recent years. Though they were eliminated from the Europa League by Sporting CP, they have a chance to win their first domestic title since 2004.
Smith-Rowe wants to be a part of the team’s success, but hasn’t been able to play much due to his injury. He has only played 63 minutes since becoming available again in 2023. After scoring for England’s Under-21 team against France, he told the ‘Athletic’ that he is “desperate” for more playing time.
“I’m desperate to be playing, the team are doing really well and it’s something I want to be a part of,” he commented on his lack of opportunities. “I’ve got to stay fit now for when the manager needs me. I’m trying to work as hard as I can so I’m ready to perform.”
