According to reports from local media, a bomb explosion in the capital city of Mogadishu on Thursday resulted in the deaths of several Somali soldiers.

Radio Shabelle, a local broadcaster, stated that the incident occurred when a military vehicle unknowingly passed over a landmine that had been planted on the road near the Darussalam area.

Unfortunately, all six Somali soldiers on board the vehicle lost their lives, as reported by an eyewitness. However, Anadolu News Agency was unable to independently verify the exact number of casualties.

Regrettably, roadside explosions and suicide bombings are a frequent occurrence in Somalia, a country located in the Horn of Africa, which has long been plagued by internal insecurity caused by the activities of al-Shabaab terrorists.

In a separate incident on Wednesday, a roadside explosion between Marka and Qoryooley districts claimed the lives of six individuals. The governor of the Lower Shabelle region, Mohamed Ibrahim, informed the Somali National News Agency that the victims deliberately targeted by terrorists were individuals involved in business activities.

Moreover, this explosion also resulted in injuries to twelve people, including innocent children.

Since 2007, al-Shabaab has been engaged in a protracted conflict with the Somali government and the African Union Mission in Somalia.
