Ramos declines Manchester United offer before rejoining Sevilla
According to a report from ‘The Sun’, Sergio Ramos, who has recently returned to his hometown club Sevilla, rejected an offer from Manchester United in order to continue his career in La Liga.
The experienced former Spanish defender, Sergio Ramos, announced on Monday that he would be returning to Sevilla after being away for 18 years.
At the age of 19, Ramos left Sevilla to join Real Madrid for a transfer fee that was then a record for a Spanish defender. In 2021, he signed with Paris Saint-Germain, but he had been without a club since his contract with the French champions expired in June.
There were reports that Al Ittihad, a Saudi club, made a lucrative offer to tempt Ramos, but the 37-year-old decided to reject it. However, they were not the only ones interested in signing him.
According to ‘The Sun’, Manchester United made an offer to Ramos, but he had a clear objective in mind. He wanted to play at the Ramon Sanchez-Pizjuan stadium. The Red Devils were looking to sign him as a free agent to replace Raphael Varane, who will be sidelined for at least a month.
However, Ramos quickly rejected their offer, which offended Manchester United. It is worth noting that Jose Luis Mendilibar’s team defeated Manchester United in the quarter-finals of the Europa League last season.
