Qatar denounces fatal suicide attack in Beledweyne town

In a strong condemnation, Qatar has expressed its deep sorrow over the al-Shabab suicide attack in Beledweyne on Saturday. The attack resulted in the tragic loss of 36 lives and left more than 40 others injured.
Through a statement issued by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Qatar offered its heartfelt condolences to the families of the victims, as well as to the government and people of Somalia. They also extended their prayers for a quick recovery of the injured.
Furthermore, the Ministry reaffirmed Qatar’s unwavering support for Somalia’s relentless efforts in combating terrorism and restoring stability. Qatar strongly stands against any form of violence and terrorism, firmly rejecting them regardless of their motives or justifications.
The attack took place when a truck, laden with explosives, forcefully broke through the government-controlled checkpoint located at the former Horseed beverages factory building. Eyewitnesses reported that a security personnel’s pickup truck was in pursuit of the speeding vehicle when the devastating explosion occurred.
