Meeting between Al-Azhar Grand Imam and Chairperson of Somali Scholars Association

The Grand Imam of Al-Azhar, Prof. Ahmad Al-Tayyeb, had a meeting with Sheikh Yusuf Ali Aynte, the Chairperson of the Somali Scholars Association (SSA), at Al-Azhar Headquarters.
The purpose of the meeting was to discuss ways to strengthen Al-Azhar’s academic and Da’wah support for the Somali people.
During the meeting, the Grand Imam reaffirmed Al-Azhar’s ongoing support for Somalia and expressed full solidarity with the Somali people in overcoming the challenges they are facing.
Al-Tayyeb highlighted that Al-Azhar currently hosts around 1,200 Somali students, who are studying at both Al-Azhar University and Al-Azhar institutes. Furthermore, he mentioned that Al-Azhar grants 70 scholarships annually to Somali students at different educational levels.
The Grand Imam also expressed Al-Azhar’s willingness to increase the number of scholarships offered to Somali students in order to contribute to Somalia’s stability and address internal challenges.
On his part, Sheikh Aynte expressed his delight in meeting the Grand Imam and his gratitude for the significant support provided by Al-Azhar to the Muslim community, particularly the Somalis.
He emphasized that Somalis take pride in Al-Azhar Ash-Sharif, as it is a renowned institution for seekers of knowledge and scholars. They are eager to enroll in Al-Azhar and gain knowledge from its authentic sources.
Sheikh Aynte also acknowledged that Al-Azhar is a source of great pride for the entire Muslim community due to its educational approach characterized by integrity and moderation.
