Marcos Alonso declines Manchester United offer, opts to remain with Barcelona
According to a report from ‘Marca’, Manchester United recently made an approach to Barcelona’s left-back Marcos Alonso, offering him a two-year deal. The deal involved Alonso joining United on loan for the remainder of this season, and then staying for an additional year once his contract with Barcelona expires in June 2024. However, Alonso has reportedly turned down the offer from Manchester United as he is determined to fight for his place in Xavi Hernandez’s team. Alonso recently signed a contract renewal in January 2023, indicating his commitment to Barcelona.
Alonso joined Barcelona in September of last year after being released by Chelsea. Although he started in 20 of his 37 appearances last season, this season he is likely to play second fiddle to Alex Balde, who has established himself as a regular in Barcelona’s starting lineup.

While Manchester United may not be able to rely on Alonso’s services, they are also considering other options, such as Marcos Cucurella from Chelsea, with whom they have initiated talks for a potential loan move this season.
